SEVENTEEN is once again proving their global power, this time with an impressive new record in Japan!
On June 10, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) officially announced that SEVENTEEN's 5th full-length album HAPPY BURSTDAY, which dropped on May 26, has earned a Double Platinum certification after shipping over 500,000 copies in just one month.
This achievement marks the group’s 19th Gold Disc certification from RIAJ so far. Earlier this year in March, SEVENTEEN’s Japanese 4th single Shohikigen (Expiration Date) was certified Triple Platinum, making HAPPY BURSTDAY their second major certification in just six months—a true sign of their growing influence in Japan.
SEVENTEEN isn’t just dominating sales—HAPPY BURSTDAY has taken over Japan’s top music charts too.
The album ranked #1 on Oricon’s Weekly Album Ranking and Weekly Combined Album Ranking, after topping the Daily Album Chart seven times. It also hit the top of Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums, Artist 100, and Top Album Sales charts.
The success didn’t stop in Japan. HAPPY BURSTDAY sold over 2.52 million copies in its first week worldwide, landing #1 on Korea’s Hanteo Chart and Circle Chart, and debuting at #2 on the Billboard 200—tying their highest-ever position on the U.S. chart.
SEVENTEEN is keeping the excitement going. On June 11 at 10 PM (KST), the group will drop the official music video for “Bad Influence (Prod. by Pharrell Williams)” on their YouTube channel and social media. The MV will also feature stylish outfits made in collaboration with digital platform Joopiter and fashion label sacai, adding more hype among fans and fashion lovers.
With record-breaking sales, chart-topping rankings, and global star power, SEVENTEEN’s HAPPY BURSTDAY era is showing no signs of slowing down!
