• MONSTA X’s Hyungwon shares how he worked hard on his diet and feels like a new man after serving in the military

MONSTA X's Hyungwon has returned to his fans after completing his military service, and he's opening up about his time away, his personal growth, and how he worked hard on his diet for MONBEBE.

On May 13 at 6 PM KST, Hyungwon held a special livestream called WELCOME BACK HYUNGWON LIVE on MONSTA X’s official YouTube channel to celebrate his return.

Earlier that morning, Hyungwon was officially discharged from his mandatory military service. He had enlisted as an active-duty soldier on November 14, 2023, and spent a year and a half serving in the Army.

When the livestream began, an excited Hyungwon shared his thoughts with fans, saying, “I’ve finally been discharged, and now I’m doing a live in front of you all. I don’t even remember how long it’s been.”

Fans and reporters gathered in the morning at his discharge site, and Hyungwon expressed his gratitude, saying, “So many people welcomed me this morning, so I felt great. And the weather was really nice too. I’m happy to be back and to talk with you all today.”

Reflecting on his time in the military, Hyungwon revealed how he felt about his personal growth. “I’m very happy. Of course, being discharged makes me happy, but I also feel different compared to before I joined the army. I feel like I’ve grown a step, and that makes me happy,” he shared.

He also emphasized how thankful he was for completing his service safely without injuries, saying, “During training or while staying at the base, it’s easy to get minor injuries, so I’m really thankful I came back safely to see you.”

During the livestream, fans couldn’t help but notice Hyungwon’s new look, especially his slimmer face and sharper jawline. Hyungwon explained, “I’ve always been a bit sensitive and even obsessive when it comes to losing weight. So while I was in the military, I ate a lot on purpose and gained weight."

He added, "But when I ate something like cake, the weight would go straight to my cheeks, jaw, and stomach. When I had about six months left, I thought, ‘If I come out looking like this, fans might not like it.’”

Determined to return looking his best, Hyungwon added, “A few months before my discharge, I decided to go on a strict diet. I wanted to show you a better version of myself when I returned, so I worked hard on my diet. But don’t worry — I stayed healthy while doing it.”

Hyungwon also shared the love from his fellow MONSTA X members, revealing that they congratulated him either in person or by phone on his discharge day, making his return even more special.

With his military service behind him, Hyungwon is back and ready to reconnect with his fans, MONBEBE, and show them the results of his hard work and growth. Fans are excited to see what’s next for the multi-talented idol as he rejoins his group and continues his journey.
