Filming for Kim Soo Hyun's new Disney+ series Knock Off has completely stopped, and no one knows when—or if—it will continue.
On April 23, SPOTV News reported that the Knock Off production team told actors and staff that filming is now on hold indefinitely. The drama’s release had already been delayed earlier, and now even filming has come to a standstill.
Knock Off is a big-budget drama about a man whose life totally changes after the IMF crisis. He goes from being a regular office worker to the king of the fake luxury goods market.
With top star Kim Soo Hyun in the lead and plans for multiple seasons, it was expected to be one of Disney+’s biggest global projects for 2025.
But things took a sharp turn when Kim Soo Hyun got caught up in a major controversy involving actress Kim Sae Ron.
Kim Soo Hyun and his team have strongly denied these claims. But despite that, the backlash hasn’t gone away.
With the scandal still making headlines, the Knock Off team officially announced, “After careful consideration, we have decided to postpone the release of Knock Off indefinitely.”
At first, there were quiet talks about finishing the drama. Since filming was nearly done, and the final script for episode 18 was already completed, some hoped the schedule could be adjusted. But recently, the team made the decision to stop filming entirely for now.
Some actors and crew members who had been waiting have now moved on to other projects.
Still, people close to the project say it’s too early to say it’s canceled forever. Whether Knock Off will resume depends on how things go with Kim Soo Hyun’s legal battle.
He has filed a 12 billion won (around $9 million USD) lawsuit against the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute for spreading false stories and revealing private photos and messages.
What happens next will decide the fate of Knock Off—and Kim Soo Hyun’s drama comeback.
