• Seohyun and Taecyeon’s Upcoming Drama Under Fire for Allegedly Damaging a UNESCO Site During Filming

The upcoming KBS2 drama I Took the Male Lead's First Night, starring Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun and 2PM’s Taecyeon, has landed in hot water for allegedly damaging a UNESCO World Heritage Site during filming.

Architect Min Seo Hong sparked the controversy after visiting Byeongsan Seowon on December 30 and witnessing questionable actions by the drama’s production team. He shared his account on social media on January 2, posting photos of the filming setup.

Min explained, "I visited Byeongsan Seowon and saw staff hammering nails into the wooden pillars of Mandaeru to hang lights. Props were scattered across the site, and production vehicles filled the area. When I questioned the staff, they dismissively said they had permission from Andong City."

He added, "Even in traditional Korean houses, people hesitate to hammer nails. Greater care should be taken with cultural heritage. This isn’t something that can be brushed off just because approval was given."

Despite Min reporting the incident to Andong City’s cultural heritage office and media outlets, filming continued as planned. His criticism also raised questions about whether cultural heritage sites should even be used as filming locations.

The production team of I Took the Male Lead's First Night responded, stating, "We are currently investigating the situation".

The drama, set to air soon, is a fantasy romance about a college student whose soul ends up in the body of a minor character in a romance novel. With an obsessive male lead, the plot promises chaos and excitement.

While fans are excited to see Seohyun and Taecyeon in this unique story, the controversy surrounding the filming location has sparked heated discussions online, with many calling for stricter rules to protect cultural heritage sites.

  • Lee Jun Young says he felt guilty and cried after acting mean to a grandma in 'Brave Citizen'

Lee Jun Young recently opened up about the emotional toll of playing a villain—and how one powerful scene made him break down in tears behind the scenes.

On the May 1st episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show Problem Child in House, Lee Jun Young appeared alongside co-star Jung Eun Ji to promote their new KBS drama Pump Up the Healthy Love.

During the show, Lee Jun Young was asked about the most unforgettable villain he’s played. He chose his role as Han Su Gang in the film Brave Citizen.

He explained, “It was really tough to film. I had to act like I was leading school violence, and there was even a scene where I bullied a grandmother.”

The hosts were surprised, pointing out how kind and gentle he seems in real life. Lee Jun Young shared how he transforms for such roles.

“I try to act as bad as I can, but sometimes the director says, ‘You still look too nice.’ Then I focus even harder and adjust right away.”

He also revealed that filming one particular scene hit him hard emotionally. “My real grandmother was sick at the time,” he said.

“In one scene, there’s a grandma selling gimbap, and I ad-libbed by stubbing a cigarette out on the gimbap. I was really into character, but after filming, I just broke down. So many thoughts came to me and I started crying.”

Fans praised his dedication to acting but also felt moved by how deeply the role affected him. Lee Jun Young’s honesty gave a raw look at how even fictional roles can hit close to home.
