Actress Son Ye Jin drew laughter after joking that she would love to film an intense and realistic marital argument with her husband, actor Hyun Bin, if they ever worked together again.
On November 3, Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin attended the handprinting ceremony for the 47th Blue Dragon Film Awards at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul, where they discussed their marriage and the possibility of reuniting on screen.
During the press conference, the couple was asked whether they would consider working together again after previously starring in the film The Negotiation and the hit drama Crash Landing on You.
Hyun Bin explained that he would prefer to explore something different from their previous projects.
“I think we would naturally avoid stories we've already done. When I was asked a similar question before, the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith suddenly came to mind,” he shared, referring to the action film starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Son Ye Jin then responded with a playful suggestion that made the conversation even more entertaining.
“I want us to play a married couple having an intense fight. Something really realistic. A documentary that couldn't possibly be more real,” she joked, drawing laughter.
The actress quickly added that she was open to working with Hyun Bin again, regardless of the genre or characters.
“I want to meet him again in another project, no matter what genre or what kind of characters we play,” she said.
The couple also briefly reflected on the challenges they experienced after becoming parents, particularly during Hyun Bin's filming of Harbin.
Son Ye Jin jokingly recalled that she felt she had the more difficult situation because she had recently given birth.
“It wasn't long after I had our baby, so I was having a harder time,” she shared.
Although she understood the physical and emotional demands of Hyun Bin's role, Son Ye Jin admitted that they sometimes felt each was facing greater difficulties.
“We were both saying, 'I'm having a harder time.' It became an opportunity for us to grow into more mature parents,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin attended the ceremony after making history at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards, where they became the first married acting couple to win Best Actor and Best Actress at the same ceremony.
Hyun Bin received Best Actor for Harbin, while Son Ye Jin won Best Actress for No Other Choice.
Although no new project featuring the couple has been announced, their playful comments showed that both actors remain interested in sharing the screen again.
The 47th Blue Dragon Film Awards will take place on November 25 at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, with the ceremony scheduled to air on KBS 2TV.
