Chungha addressed comments about her changing appearance and explained that she believes losing facial baby fat is behind her sharper look.
The singer appeared as a guest on the September 2 broadcast of KBS Cool FM’s Gabi’s Super Radio, where Gabi mentioned that Chungha’s face and overall image seemed calmer now that she has entered her 30s.
Chungha responded, “Maybe it’s because I lost a lot of baby fat. Even my friends asked if I had my face reshaped because it looks that different to me too.”
Gabi agreed that Chungha’s facial lines appeared noticeably different.
The conversation remained casual, with Chungha joking about how her appearance has naturally changed throughout her career rather than making any claim about cosmetic procedures.
When asked about the period she considers her “prime,” Chungha said she would rather choose her 30s than her 20s, although she feels it is still too early to decide.
“I haven’t lived through all of my 30s yet, so I can’t say this is my prime. I think it depends on how you define your prime,” she explained.
A listener also commented that Chungha seemed very mature when she first debuted, even though she was only around 21 at the time.
Looking back, Chungha said people often compared her to a hamster during her early 20s because of her softer facial features. However, she noticed that the comparisons changed later in her career, especially around the release of I’m Ready.
“In my early 20s, people often said I looked like a hamster. Toward my late 20s, when ‘I’m Ready’ came out, people started saying I looked like a snake,” she said.
Chungha jokingly suggested that the snake inspired styling used for the song may have added to the impression, while noting how much she feels her overall look has changed with age.
