Actor Song Kang revealed that he became a devoted viewer of the dating show I Am Solo while serving in the military.
On August 25, Song Kang appeared on the web variety show Salon Drip, where he spoke casually about how he spent his free time during military service.
When host Jang Do Yeon asked whether his time in the military passed quickly, Song Kang replied, “No matter how enjoyable military life can be, time doesn’t really pass quickly.”
He explained that whenever he received access to his phone, he would often check how many days remained until his discharge and how much of his service he had completed.
Song Kang then shared that he properly discovered SBS Plus dating program I Am Solo after enlisting.
He said, “Before I enlisted, I didn’t really know much about ‘I Am Solo,’ but I watched it a lot in the military. It was so much fun.” He then jokingly asked Jang Do Yeon, “Why didn’t you tell me about it sooner?”
When asked whether he had also started watching the spin-off I Am Solo, Love Forever, Song Kang said he watches it as well but still prefers the original series.
The actor revealed that his interest has continued even after completing his military service, saying, “Now I look forward to Wednesdays.”
Jang Do Yeon jokingly explained the full viewing routine for dedicated fans, saying they can watch I Am Solo on Wednesday, follow it with I Am Solo, Love Forever on Thursday, and even continue with related live broadcasts afterward.
Song Kang appeared surprised by the additional content and asked, “That airs the next day?” showing even more interest.
He also briefly mentioned watching his own drama Sweet Home while serving in the military. When Jang Do Yeon jokingly asked whether he showed it to junior soldiers and pointed himself out on screen, Song Kang playfully responded that his juniors should have recognized and praised him before he even needed to say anything.
Song Kang’s comments offered fans a lighthearted look at the entertainment shows that helped him pass the time during his military service, with I Am Solo becoming one of his unexpected favorites.
