Actor Jung Hae In has revealed the simple eating habit he follows during filming to help reduce facial puffiness, including one popular Korean food he tries to avoid.
Jung Hae In appeared on TEO’s YouTube show Salon Drip on August 11, where he talked about how he manages his appearance when working on a new project.
Explaining his routine before filming, Jung Hae In said, “As much as possible, the day before work, I don’t eat late at night, and I cut down on soup and salt.”
He added that strongly seasoned or salty food can make him feel noticeably puffier the following day.
“If I eat something salty and strongly flavored, I feel like my nose gets swollen and my eyes look lower,” he explained.
When asked which food is especially difficult for him to resist while filming, Jung Hae In named tteokbokki, the popular Korean dish made with rice cakes and a spicy sauce.
His comment was not presented as a strict health rule. Rather, the actor explained that temporarily reducing salty and heavily seasoned foods is part of his personal routine when he wants to manage facial puffiness for the camera.
Jung Hae In recently starred alongside Ha Young in Netflix’s romantic comedy Our Sticky Love, which was released on August 7.
While tteokbokki can contain a relatively high amount of carbohydrates and sodium depending on the recipe, there is no need for people to completely avoid it. Portion size, sauce, ingredients, and the overall balance of a meal can all affect its nutritional content.
For Jung Hae In, however, the choice appears to be simple: when filming starts, tteokbokki is one of the foods he is willing to temporarily give up to help keep his face looking less puffy on screen.
