Actress Ha Young has reportedly continued filming her upcoming SBS drama There Is a Chance of Winning as scheduled despite recent controversy surrounding her great grandfather.

According to multiple industry sources on August 11, filming for the drama went ahead without changes, and Ha Young attended the scheduled shoot to complete her scenes.

The situation followed discussion surrounding comments Ha Young made during the August 7 broadcast of KBS2’s Problem Child in House. While talking about her family’s medical background, she said, “My great grandfather studied Western medicine in Japan. I heard he was the first doctor to open a clinic in Hanyang.”

She also mentioned that he had treated Emperor Gojong and that her family had continued in the medical profession for four generations.

After the broadcast, online users speculated that her great grandfather was Ahn Sang Ho and raised questions about historical records linking him to an organization active during the Japanese colonial period.

Ha Young’s agency, Busters Entertainment, initially denied the allegations. However, the company later issued a correction after conducting additional checks.

The agency stated, “After further verification, we confirmed that records do exist showing Ahn Sang Ho’s name on the list of council members of the Taisho Friendship Association in 1916.”

It continued, “We sincerely apologize for causing confusion by responding too quickly that the claims were groundless without sufficient verification.”

The agency also explained that Ha Young had simply answered a question about her family’s four generation medical history during the television appearance, adding that “the actress feels very heavy hearted that an unintended controversy has resulted.”

Despite the situation, Ha Young attended the drama filming that had already been scheduled before the controversy emerged.

The production team behind There Is a Chance of Winning is reportedly monitoring the situation, but no changes to Ha Young’s participation have been announced at this time.

There Is a Chance of Winning follows an unconventional legal office led by Kwon Baek, a former lawyer who now works as a legal manager, as the team attempts to turn seemingly impossible cases into winnable ones.

Lee Je Hoon stars as Kwon Baek, while Ha Young plays rookie lawyer Yeo Sim Hee. The drama is currently scheduled to air on SBS in 2027.
