DAY6’s Young K jokingly claimed that actor Heo Nam Jun has become harder to contact since gaining more attention for his recent drama role.
Young K appeared on episode 151 of the web variety show Salon Drip, released on August 4, and spoke about his close friendship with actors Heo Nam Jun and Kim Do Hoon.
The singer explained that the three friends have a group chat named after a Korean food combination they once ate together.
Young K said, “We call ourselves the Samhap group because we went out to eat hongeo samhap. We have a group chat where we talk often.”
He added that their latest topic has been Heo Nam Jun’s growing popularity as Cha Se Gye in the drama Wonderful New World.
When host Jang Do Yeon described the character’s popularity as similar to a syndrome, Young K jokingly agreed.
He said, “He has entered the path of success. Since then, the number of messages has clearly decreased, and his callbacks have become slower.”
Jang Do Yeon continued the joke by replying, “That is the natural process.”
Young K explained that he and Kim Do Hoon often tease Heo Nam Jun about acting differently now that he has become a bigger star.
He shared, “Do Hoon and I say that it is understandable because he has become such a star. He appears everywhere and even came on Salon Drip. We tell him, ‘You have really changed.’”
According to Young K, Heo Nam Jun usually responds several hours later and denies the playful accusation.
Young K added, “After a few hours, he says, ‘I am not like that.’ He is secretly quite sensitive.”
The singer also revealed another way he jokingly embarrasses his friend.
Young K said he often tells Heo Nam Jun, “Nam Jun, you should take your shirt off. I think you look even better that way.”
When asked how the actor responds, Young K recalled him saying, “Seriously, why are you doing this? Stop it.”
Young K also shared that Heo Nam Jun once sent him a coffee truck, but the video attached to it included a scene showing the actor without a shirt.
He explained, “He gets embarrassed and turns red more easily than people might expect,” showing that their comments were part of their close and playful friendship.
Young K described his role in the trio as the person who usually makes the jokes, while Heo Nam Jun often accepts them.
He said, “Among the three of us, I think I am the damage dealer, while Heo Nam Jun is the tank.”
Jang Do Yeon also asked whether Young K agreed to sing an original soundtrack because of his friendship with Heo Nam Jun.
Young K explained that the idea first came up during a casual conversation between the friends.
He recalled saying, “It would be fun to have my voice in the same project. Will you ask me to sing? Whenever you ask, I will do it.”
Young K added that he enjoys recording drama soundtracks because DAY6 usually writes and composes its own music, giving him fewer chances to sing songs created entirely by other people.
He said, “It is already meaningful to sing another person’s song, but when it is for a project involving friends I care about, it becomes an even greater honor.”
However, Young K admitted that hearing his own voice during Heo Nam Jun’s romantic scenes felt slightly uncomfortable.
He joked, “The song was used during a very romantic and sweet scene, so it was difficult to hear my voice while watching my friend work. They probably feel the same way when they come to my concerts.”
