Yoon Kyung Ho became emotional after winning Best Supporting Actor at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards for his performance in The Legend of Kitchen Soldier.
The ceremony was held on July 31 at Paradise City in Incheon. He received the award over fellow nominees Lee Kwang Soo, Lee Sang Yi, Jung Moon Sung, and Jin Sun Kyu.
During his acceptance speech, Yoon Kyung Ho admitted that he had not expected to win.
He said, “I truly cannot believe it. I came here ready to applaud the winner. All the nominated actors are excellent, so I wanted to enjoy being nominated and treat today like a celebration.”
The actor then shared a lighthearted conversation he had with host Jun Hyun Moo before the ceremony.
Yoon Kyung Ho recalled, “Jun Hyun Moo told me, ‘I hope you receive good news.’ I asked him to call my name as a joke even if someone else won. I really thought he was joking.”
Realizing that he had actually received the award, Yoon Kyung Ho tearfully added, “I am sorry. I became too emotional.”
He thanked viewers and emphasized that the honor belonged to the entire team behind The Legend of Kitchen Soldier.
He said, “This is not an award I could receive alone. It was possible because of the colleagues who worked with me.”
Yoon Kyung Ho also expressed his gratitude to Park Ji Hoon, the other cast members, the director, the writer, and everyone involved in producing the drama.
