Actress Goo Hye Sun has drawn mixed reactions after discussing her past anaphylaxis diagnosis and later experience with food allergies.
On the July 18 broadcast of MBN’s “Kim Joo Ha’s Day and Night,” Goo Hye Sun recalled leaving the MBC drama “You Are Too Much” in 2017 because of serious health concerns.
At the time, she reportedly experienced dizziness and occasional breathing difficulties while filming. She was taken to an emergency room, diagnosed with anaphylaxis, and admitted to the hospital.

Speaking about the experience, Goo Hye Sun said, “I understood it as a food allergy. I had allergic reactions to most foods.” She added that similar symptoms occurred about twice.
The actress explained that she later decided to try eating marinated crab, but only after receiving allergy medicine and preparing an injection.
“When I thought about what I wanted to eat before dying, I wanted marinated crab,” she said. “I received allergy medicine and prepared an injection before eating it.”

Goo Hye Sun continued, “Strangely, I had no symptoms. After that, I was able to eat everything normally.”
Her story led to divided reactions online. Some people with severe allergies expressed concern that the comments could cause confusion about anaphylaxis, which can become a life threatening medical emergency.
One commenter said, “People with serious allergies already face misunderstandings, and this could create more confusion.” Another warned, “Anaphylaxis is not something that should be treated casually.”
Others noted that allergy symptoms and triggers can change over time and said Goo Hye Sun was sharing her personal experience rather than offering medical guidance.
However, medical reactions can differ between individuals, and people with a history of severe allergies should follow advice from qualified healthcare professionals rather than attempting the same approach on their own.
