SEVENTEEN’s Joshua delivered a meaningful message to young people around the world during a special UNESCO event in Paris.
On June 25, Joshua attended “UNESCO x SEVENTEEN: Celebrating Youth, Creativity and Well Being Together” at UNESCO headquarters in France as a youth goodwill ambassador.
The event celebrated the global youth support program led by SEVENTEEN and UNESCO and also introduced plans to give deeper support to selected youth groups.
Joshua began his speech by saying, “I am very honored to stand here today representing the 13 members of SEVENTEEN.” He also shared the support and thanks of the members who were not able to attend.
Speaking about the “Global Youth Grant Scheme,” Joshua said the passion and creativity of young people deeply moved SEVENTEEN. He explained, “We felt that we could not stop here,” adding that they wanted to expand support so the projects could create a bigger impact.
Joshua also connected the stories of young people to SEVENTEEN’s own journey. He said, “As 13 members who have shared one dream for more than 10 years, we often faced uncertainty within ourselves”.
He shared that SEVENTEEN was able to grow because of the power of being together, saying, “We learned that no growth was achieved by our own strength alone.”
Joshua added that being one team does not mean everyone must take the same path. He explained that SEVENTEEN became stronger through both group, unit, and individual activities, as each member grew in their own way.
To young people facing challenges around the world, Joshua said, “We are on the same path in the sense that we are all creating a better world.” He also encouraged them by saying, “Let us continue moving forward together.”
At the end of his speech, Joshua promised that SEVENTEEN would continue to support young people in their own way.
He said, “Sometimes, we will shout loudly that your dreams are precious,” before adding, “Do not let anyone, not even yourself, look down on your dreams”.
