The weekend drama race is turning into a clear battle of viewer tastes, with MBC’s ‘Perfect Crown’ leading in ratings while JTBC’s ‘We Are All Trying Here’ and tvN’s ‘Filing for Love’ build strong attention in different ways.

At the center of the competition is ‘Perfect Crown’, starring IU and Byeon Woo Seok. The drama recently recorded 11.2% for episode 8, making it the only weekend drama in its time slot to stay in the double digits.

With its fantasy setting, star power, and polished visuals, the series has also drawn strong buzz since before its premiere.

However, not all reactions have been positive. Some viewers praised the drama’s visuals but criticized the story flow, saying, “The visuals are perfect, but the logic is failing”.

Others pointed to its familiar romance style and chaebol family setup as reasons why the drama may not fully satisfy viewers looking for deeper storytelling.

On the other side, JTBC’s ‘We Are All Trying Here’ is taking a quieter but steady path. The drama, written by Park Hae Young of ‘My Mister’ and ‘My Liberation Notes’, is still in the 2% range, but its ratings have started to rise from 2.5% for episode 5 to 2.9% for episode 6.

It is also performing well on streaming platforms, showing that it has a loyal audience even without high TV ratings.

The drama is gaining attention for its realistic look at people who are hurt, tired, and trying to recover. Koo Kyo Hwan plays Hwang Dong Man, a man who has struggled for years with an unfulfilled dream, while Go Youn Jung plays Byun Eun Ah, a woman carrying deep emotional wounds.

Some viewers find the story heavy for a weekend drama, but others are calling it a “well made life drama.”

Meanwhile, Shin Hye Sun’s tvN drama ‘Filing for Love’ is quickly becoming a strong middle option. The drama started at 4.4%, rose to 6.3% for episode 2, and reached 7.9% by episode 4. Its unusual story about an office affair audit, mixed with Shin Hye Sun’s comic acting, has helped it gain positive reactions.

SBS’s ‘Phantom Lawyer’, which once reached the 10% range early on, ended in the 6% range after ‘Perfect Crown’ gained stronger momentum.

With Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun’s new drama ‘My Royal Nemesis’ joining the lineup on the 8th, the weekend drama battle is expected to become even more competitive.
