Stray Kids have once again surpassed 3 million copies in first week album sales, while early U.S. projections suggest the group could extend its historic Billboard 200 record.

According to Hanteo Chart data as of August 14, Stray Kids’ 10th mini album THIS & THAT, released on August 7, recorded approximately 3.28 million copies in first week sales.

The figure is around 8 percent higher than the 3,036,360 first week copies recorded by their fourth full length album KARMA in August last year. The increase is especially notable because THIS & THAT contains eight tracks, compared with 11 tracks on KARMA.

Attention is now turning to the album’s expected performance in the United States.

HITS Daily Double currently projects THIS & THAT to debut at No. 1 in the U.S. with around 335,000 equivalent album units during its first week. Of that total, approximately 325,000 units are expected to come from pure album sales.

If the projection holds, Stray Kids would set another personal best in the U.S. Their previous album KARMA debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 313,000 equivalent album units.

Stray Kids have already made Billboard history by having their first eight charting albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, including the special album DO IT. If THIS & THAT also enters at the top, the group would extend that streak to nine consecutive No. 1 debuts.

The strong sales also appear to reflect continued growth beyond the group's latest comeback. According to JYP Entertainment’s second quarter results released on August 12, shipments of Stray Kids’ older albums in Korea and overseas increased from about 120,000 copies in the second quarter of last year to approximately 420,000 copies during the same period this year.

That represents a 3.5 times increase in one year. JYP described the trend as “core fandom expansion proven through catalog album sales” and said sales of older releases have continued to grow.

Stray Kids are currently carrying out their RUN IT world tour, with additional North American and European dates planned for next year. The group is also scheduled to appear as a headliner at Rock in Rio in Brazil this September and hold its own STRAYCITY festival in three Latin American cities.
