Actor Jinyoung recently shared how he built strong on screen chemistry with Kim Min Ju while preparing for the new JTBC Friday drama “Still Shining”.
On March 5, Jinyoung attended the drama’s production presentation held at The Link Hotel Seoul in Sindorim dong, Guro gu. During the event, he revealed that the cast spent long hours practicing together before filming.
Jinyoung explained that the director organized many script reading sessions, saying, “The director had us do a lot of readings. Some days we even read for 10 hours.” He added that after spending so much time practicing together, he believed their teamwork had to improve.
He shared honestly, “If we still didn’t become close or didn’t have good chemistry after that, I thought it would be our problem.”
According to Jinyoung, the preparation helped them grow closer as co stars. He said they “worked really hard to match our chemistry and became much closer.”
Jinyoung also praised Kim Min Ju’s acting. Although he debuted earlier as a singer, he explained that acting projects feel different because everyone works as equals on set. He commented that “in drama or film sets, we feel more like colleagues.”
Speaking about their romance storyline, Jinyoung added that chemistry depends on whether the actor truly fits the role.
He shared, “From the beginning, Min Ju looked like the character to me,” explaining that he trusted her performance from their first filming.
He said that because of this, “I was able to trust her from the first shoot and enjoyed filming without difficulty.”
Meanwhile, “Still Shining” tells the story of young people who once shared their own world and gradually become a guiding light in each other’s lives. The drama will premiere on March 6 at 8:50 PM, with its first two episodes airing back to back.
