Singer IU has once again shown her power with her latest remake album, Kkotgalpi Set.
Released on May 27 at 6 PM, the album quickly swept major music charts within just one hour. All songs from the album ranked on big platforms like Melon, Genie, and Bugs, and the title track, "Never Ending Story," hit No. 1 on Melon, Bugs, and Genie.
Kkotgalpi Set is IU’s third remake album, where she gives new life to classic songs with her emotional and soft voice. It’s her first remake album in about 8 years since Kkotgalpi Dul in 2017, and her first new album in over a year since her mini album The Winning released in February 2024.
The title song, "Never Ending Story," is a remake of the famous band Buhwal’s hit, reimagined with IU’s unique feelings. Composer Seo Dong Hwan arranged the track with a delicate and beautiful sound.

The music video for "Never Ending Story," released on YouTube, is also getting lots of attention. In just about 7 hours, it passed 1 million views and ranked high on the "Trending Music" list. The video is a special tribute to the film Christmas in August and stars IU alongside rising actor Heo Nam Joon. Directed by Lee Rae Kyung, who worked on IU’s earlier hits like "Palette" and "Through the Night," the video has received praise for its quality.
IU’s Kkotgalpi series is well-loved for touching hearts with songs like "Autumn Morning," "Your Meaning," and "Sleepless Rainy Night." This new album, Kkotgalpi Set, continues that tradition by keeping the original feelings of the songs while adding IU’s soft vocals and unique emotion.
