BTS’s RM has made another major contribution to Korean culture, this time through his role as the first global ambassador of the National Museum of Korea.
According to the museum, RM donated 100 million won (approximately $72,000) on September 29 through the Friends of the National Museum of Korea, an organization that supports the museum.
The donation will be used to help purchase and secure artifacts for the museum’s collection, including works that may later be donated to the institution.
RM has served as the National Museum of Korea’s first global ambassador since June, making the donation closely connected to his ongoing efforts to promote Korean history, art, and culture.
The BTS member has long been known for his interest in traditional Korean art and cultural heritage.
In 2020, he donated 100 million won through the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Foundation, and he also made 100 million won donations for two consecutive years to support the preservation of Korean cultural heritage located overseas.
His interest in art has also expanded internationally. RM is preparing the special exhibition RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, where around 140 works from his personal collection are expected to be presented.
The exhibition is scheduled to run from October 3 through February 7, 2027, and marks SFMOMA’s first collaboration with a K-pop artist.
