Girls’ Day’s Yura opened up about the unusual feeling of reuniting with actor Hong Jong Hyun, her former virtual husband from We Got Married, more than a decade after their popular pairing.
During a Q&A video celebrating the first anniversary of her YouTube channel, Yura was asked which content she had filmed over the past year left the strongest impression on her.
While several projects came to mind, Yura said recreating the We Got Married experience with Hong Jong Hyun stood out because it felt like going back in time.
“When we filmed the We Got Married content, it really felt like we had gotten into a time machine,” Yura recalled.
She said meeting Hong Jong Hyun again also made them realize just how much time had passed since they first appeared together.
“It felt so strange for both Jong Hyun oppa and me,” she said. “While filming, we kept saying, ‘When did we suddenly become people in our early to mid-30s?’”
Yura and Hong Jong Hyun originally appeared as a virtual married couple on MBC’s We Got Married in 2014. Their pairing became known to viewers as the “JjongAh Couple.”
The two reunited earlier this year through Yura’s YouTube channel, around 12 years after their original appearance. For the reunion, they went on a special date while completing missions prepared by the production team and looked back on memories from their We Got Married days.
For Yura, the reunion ultimately felt less like simply filming new content and more like briefly revisiting a memorable chapter from years ago.
