Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon had a funny realization about just how senior she and her fellow members have become in the K-pop industry.
On September 16, Hyoyeon’s YouTube channel *Hyoyeon’s Level Up* released a new video featuring Hyoyeon, Yuri, and Sooyoung as they playfully promoted themselves like a newly debuted girl group.
While visiting a music show, the members greeted younger artists and even filmed a challenge with NCT 127.
Sooyoung was surprised by how much idol promotions have changed since Girls’ Generation debuted.
*“Now that there’s a challenge culture at music shows, it feels like you naturally become closer to people,”* she said.
Yuri jokingly responded, *“It’s already hard enough learning my own choreography.”*
Sooyoung quickly teased her, saying, *“Yuri even forgets her own choreography.”*
Hyoyeon then enthusiastically talked about meeting NCT 127, pretending to speak like an excited rookie idol.
*“The NCT 127 sunbaenims were really handsome earlier. Their faces were this small, and their eyes were this big,”* she said.
Yuri immediately suggested, *“Should we go film more challenges?”*
Hyoyeon then joked about filming with male idols before suddenly realizing their position as longtime industry veterans.
*“Should we film with the oppas? Ah, we don’t have any oppas,”* she said, immediately losing some of her excitement.
Sooyoung then corrected her with a laugh, simply saying, *“Sunbaenims.”*
The playful exchange highlighted the unusual experience of Girls’ Generation pretending to be rookie idols despite being among the most senior active K-pop artists.
Girls’ Generation debuted in 2007 and has remained one of K-pop’s most recognized girl groups, making Hyoyeon’s realization about finding older male seniors in the industry even funnier.
