Yoo Ah In is officially returning to the big screen with director Jang Jae Hyun’s upcoming mystery occult film Vampir.

Scheduled for release in 2028, Vampir follows an unidentified contract killer who accepts a request from a priest and begins tracking a mysterious religious group.

The film is the latest project from Jang Jae Hyun, the director behind Exhuma, Svaha: The Sixth Finger, and The Priests.

Yoo Ah In will play the contract killer pursuing the mysterious group, marking his first newly filmed movie project following the conclusion of major proceedings in his previous legal case.

The actor was also seen participating in the film’s script reading with the cast, signaling that preparations for the project are officially underway.

Yoo Ah In previously faced legal proceedings related to the use of controlled substances and improperly obtained prescriptions. In February 2025, an appeals court sentenced him to one year in prison suspended for two years, and he was released after spending approximately five months in detention.

Films starring Yoo Ah In, including Hi-Five and The Match, were released during this period, but both had been filmed before the controversy. As a result, Vampir is considered his first new acting project following the case.

The movie has also assembled a notable supporting cast.

Lee Sung Min will play a priest who breaks a taboo for the sake of his beliefs, while Lee Jun Hyuk will portray a member of the mysterious religious group who desires eternal life.

Rookie actress Doi has been cast as a mysterious girl after being selected through auditions. Yoon Kyung Ho will appear as a smuggling broker who becomes involved with the group, while Choi Hyun Wook joins the film as a U.S. Army lieutenant with an unknown purpose.

With Yoo Ah In’s return now confirmed and Jang Jae Hyun leading the project, attention is expected to remain on Vampir as the film moves toward its planned 2028 release.
