WJSN’s Exy, also known by her acting name Choo So Jung, is expanding her career once again with a new role in an upcoming horror film.

Her agency King Kong by Starship confirmed that Choo So Jung has joined the cast of Akgu: The Secret of the Moon Shadow, a working title for a new psychological horror movie.

The film follows six 27 year old friends with different personalities and backgrounds who travel to a campsite to investigate rumors surrounding a mysterious pond deep in the forest. Their trip takes an unexpected turn when they begin experiencing strange events.

Choo So Jung will play Ja Kyung, a quiet and sensitive painter who becomes determined to uncover the truth behind the pond. Her character leads the group deeper into the mystery and plays a central role in how the story begins.

The project marks another step in Choo So Jung’s growing acting career.

She previously appeared in the film 18 Youth, where she played a student who seems perfect on the outside but struggles with inner anxiety. She also appeared in Heo’s Diner and tvN’s The Divorce Insurance, taking on different characters across film and television.

This time, she will challenge herself with a youth psychological horror story, offering a different image from her previous roles.

Choo So Jung first debuted in 2016 as Exy, the leader and rapper of WJSN. Alongside her activities as a singer, she has also built a reputation as a songwriter and producer.

In addition to contributing to WJSN’s music, Exy has participated in songs for artists including IVE, ILLIT, FIFTY FIFTY, and EXO’s Xiumin, showing a career that continues to expand beyond her own group.

Akgu: The Secret of the Moon Shadow will also star Ji Chang Min, Yoon Sang Hyun, Oh Woo Ri, Kim Su Gyeom, and Jang Yeo Bin.

Filming is scheduled to begin in September, with the movie currently aiming for a 2027 theatrical release.
