Gong Hyo Jin personally recommended actor Jung Joon Won as the male lead for Yoo Jae Suk’s upcoming short-form drama project.
During the August 1 episode of MBC’s Hangout with Yoo, Yoo Jae Suk, Haha, Heo Kyung Hwan, and Joo Woo Jae met Gong Hyo Jin while searching for a possible female lead for the second season of their short-form drama.
Gong Hyo Jin also discussed her return to MBC through the new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona Fide Killer. She noted that it marks her first MBC drama in 15 years since The Greatest Love.
While considering the short-form project, Gong Hyo Jin said that romance would be an important part of the story and that choosing the right co-star would strongly affect her decision.
She explained, “The male lead is important. He is someone I have already worked with. I still need to think about it, but if he becomes the male lead, I may consider the offer more positively.”
Gong Hyo Jin then joked about her history of helping her male co-stars gain wider attention.
She said, “When someone stars in a drama with me, the male lead becomes very popular.”
Her recommended actor was Jung Joon Won, who plays her husband in A Bona Fide Killer.
When he made a surprise appearance, Gong Hyo Jin warmly introduced him by saying, “My husband.”
Jung Joon Won then shyly greeted the cast, saying, “I am Jung Joon Won.”
Joo Woo Jae commented that the actor had a soft and friendly appearance. When asked whether he had watched the group’s earlier short-form drama, Jung Joon Won replied, “I have. It was easy and light to watch,” drawing laughter from the cast.
