Shin Hye Sun took home the Best Actress award at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards, winning one of the ceremony’s most competitive categories.

The event was held on July 31 at Paradise City in Incheon, with Jun Hyun Moo and Girls’ Generation’s YoonA serving as hosts.

The Best Actress nominees were Go Youn Jung for Can This Love Be Translated?, Kim Go Eun and Park Ji Hyun for You and Everything Else, Park Bo Young for Gold Land, and Shin Hye Sun for Lady Dua.

Before the ceremony, the category drew strong attention because Kim Go Eun, Park Ji Hyun, and Shin Hye Sun had all received praise for their performances. Shin Hye Sun was ultimately announced as the winner for her role in Lady Dua.

During her acceptance speech, Shin Hye Sun said, “I did not expect this at all. I was already satisfied when senior actress Park Bo Kyung received an award for Lady Dua, so it is an honor that I also received one.”

She explained that her character, Sarah Kim, was created through close teamwork with the production staff.

Shin Hye Sun added, “Sarah Kim was not a character I could have created alone. The production team thought deeply about the role and built it together with me, which makes this award even more meaningful.”

She ended her speech by promising to continue improving, saying, “I will work hard to become an actress who can show even better performances in the future.”
