Yang Se Jong is gaining attention for showing several different sides of his character in tvN’s weekend drama Spooky in Love.

The actor plays Ma Kang Wook, a passionate prosecutor who is firm in court but gentle toward people who need help. His mix of kindness, courage, and awkward humor has become one of the drama’s main attractions.

Ma Kang Wook initially becomes suspicious of Cheon Yeo Ri, played by Park Eun Bin, after repeatedly meeting her at unusual crime scenes. However, he soon shows concern for her and tries to comfort her during difficult moments.

His life becomes more complicated after contact with Cheon Yeo Ri causes him to see ghosts, which are his greatest fear. Rather than blaming her, he recognizes the pain she has experienced and decides to face the strange situation with maturity.

Yang Se Jong also shows Ma Kang Wook’s strong sense of justice. The prosecutor refuses to give in to pressure or threats and continues investigating people who attempt to avoid responsibility through power and influence.

At the same time, the character’s frightened reactions to ghosts add humor to the story. His playful relationship with his grandmother also reveals a softer and more natural side that viewers have found charming.

The drama is showing clear growth in ratings. According to Nielsen Korea, episode 4 reached a nationwide rating of 5.8 percent on July 26. This is nearly twice the 3 percent rating recorded by the first episode on July 18.

With viewers responding positively to Yang Se Jong’s balanced performance, interest is growing over whether Spooky in Love will continue its upward ratings trend.

Episode 5 of Spooky in Love airs on August 1 at 9:10 p.m. KST on tvN.
