Lee Sung Min reportedly contacted Shin Se Kyung after his acceptance speech at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards caused mixed reactions online.

According to reports on May 16, Lee Sung Min reached out to Shin Se Kyung on May 8, one day after the awards ceremony, and apologized for the part of his speech that may have caused misunderstanding.

Lee Sung Min won Best Supporting Actor in the film category for “No Other Choice”. During his speech, he mentioned Yum Hye Ran, who was also part of the same film, and said, “I do not know how nervous I was because Yum Hye Ran was nominated”. He then joked, “I even cursed inside because Hye Ran did not win.”

The Best Supporting Actress award went to Shin Se Kyung for “Humint”, while Yum Hye Ran was also one of the nominees in the same category.

Although the comment drew laughter at the ceremony, it later became a topic online, with some people saying the joke could be misunderstood.

However, an official at the scene explained that the atmosphere was not uncomfortable. The official said, “Lee Sung Min usually thinks more about his team members than his own award, so it was a joke he made.”

They added, “At the scene, everyone was laughing and the mood was pleasant.”

Yum Hye Ran also lightened the mood when she later appeared as a presenter and introduced herself by joking, “I am Yum Hye Ran, who just lost.”

After the ceremony, Lee Sung Min personally apologized to Shin Se Kyung and talked with her about the situation. Shin Se Kyung reportedly did not see it as a serious issue and was instead unsure how to react to the attention it received.

An executive from Lee Sung Min’s agency also contacted Shin Se Kyung’s agency to apologize and clear up the misunderstanding.

In the end, the situation appears to have been resolved between both sides.
