tvN’s weekend drama ‘Filing for Love’ continued to hold strong in its time slot as Shin Hye Sun’s character revealed her painful past.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 5 of ‘Filing for Love,’ which aired on May 9, recorded an average rating of 6.4% and a peak of 7.6% in the metropolitan area. Nationwide, the episode recorded an average of 5.9% and a peak of 6.9%.
With these numbers, the drama ranked No. 1 in its time slot for three weeks in a row among cable and general programming channels. It also ranked No. 1 in the same time slot among tvN’s target viewers aged 20 to 49.
Although the drama slowed down slightly after episode 4 reached its personal best of 7.9%, ‘Filing for Love’ still showed steady popularity and strong viewer interest.
Episode 5 focused on Joo In Ah, played by Shin Hye Sun, slowly opening up to Noh Ki Joon, played by Gong Myung. After their kiss, the two became more aware of their changing relationship.
Joo In Ah tried to apologize and keep distance, saying she had crossed a line as his superior, but Noh Ki Joon refused to treat the kiss like a mistake.
When Joo In Ah asked why he kissed her, Noh Ki Joon honestly answered, “You were pretty, manager.” Later, when she tried to step away, he told her, “It is really annoying. Kissing and then apologizing,” showing his direct feelings.
Their emotions became more complicated during an audit case about a wedding incident. The case led to a debate about whether a kiss has meaning, making Noh Ki Joon think about his own situation with Joo In Ah.
During a company dinner, he told her, “Sometimes, the truth is hidden inside a lie,” before asking, “Was it really nothing?”
The episode then revealed Joo In Ah’s heartbreaking family story. After her father suddenly appeared and collapsed, she later told Noh Ki Joon about the pain she had carried since childhood.
She shared that the father she first met at seven already had another family, while she grew up with her mother and endured harsh judgment from others.
Noh Ki Joon comforted her with tears in his eyes, saying, “My heart hurts.” His words became an important moment for Joo In Ah, who had rarely received that kind of comfort.
The episode ended with another tense moment when Park Ah Jung unexpectedly appeared after Joo In Ah brought the drunk Noh Ki Joon home, raising curiosity about how this meeting will affect their relationship.
