Jeon Somi has shared the behind-the-scenes story of how I.O.I finally reunited after years of failed attempts.
On the April 29 episode of MBC’s Radio Star, Jeon Somi appeared as a guest and talked about I.O.I coming back together for their 10th debut anniversary.
Somi explained why the members wanted to reunite, saying, “We received so much love from a miracle-like program 10 years ago.”
She added that she hopes fans can remember the girl they loved back then and enjoy seeing the group together again.
She also revealed that the members had tried to reunite before, including for their 5th and 7th anniversaries, but it did not work out for several reasons.
This time, the members made a firm promise from the beginning. Somi said, “If an I.O.I practice schedule is set, do not take personal schedules. Even if a good event comes in, do not do it.”
She added that the members agreed, “This comes first,” and even wrote their own agreement before holding hands and visiting CJ together.
When Kim Gu Ra asked who led the reunion, Somi answered, “Chungha unnie led it. We were summoned by her call. We all held hands and went to CJ together.”
I.O.I was formed through Mnet’s Produce 101 in 2016. For their 10th anniversary, the group is reuniting after 9 years and is set to meet fans through a new mini album and world tour, 2026 I.O.I Concert Tour: LOOP.
