Former I.O.I member and actress Kang Mina has directly addressed her absence from the group’s 10th anniversary reunion project, sharing that the decision was her own and expressing sincere regret toward fans.
On April 21, during a press conference for the Netflix series ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ held in Seoul, Kang Mina spoke openly about the situation.
She described it as “an unfortunate decision” and clarified, “I chose to focus on my previously scheduled acting activities,” making it clear that her absence was due to personal priorities.
She also took the time to apologize, saying, “I feel nothing but sorry toward the fans,” and added that she will “focus on acting and show a better side” in return for their support.
I.O.I, formed through Mnet’s ‘Produce 101’ in 2016, gained major popularity with hit songs like “Very Very Very” and “Downpour” before ending activities in January 2017.
The group is set to reunite for their 10th anniversary with the mini album ‘I.O.I : LOOP’ scheduled for release on May 19, although Kang Mina will not be part of this project.
Meanwhile, Kang Mina continues her career as an actress through the upcoming Netflix series ‘If Wishes Could Kill’.
