IU drew attention after appearing in a cooking video wearing a unique hanbok-style apron, impressing even a Michelin 3-star chef while showing her beginner cooking skills.
On a YouTube channel, IU met Chef Ahn Sung Jae and introduced her outfit by saying it was made with traditional hanbok fabric, adding that it was “so pretty” she wanted to wear it.
The chef reacted with surprise, saying, “In 25 years of cooking, it’s the prettiest apron I’ve ever seen. I thought it was clothing.”
Despite the light atmosphere, IU admitted she felt very nervous, saying, “I’m more nervous than before singing the first song at a concert,” as she prepared to cook a simple late-night dish.
She explained her recipe choice, sharing that after work she prefers something light, especially when she has a schedule the next day.
She said she found a “soft tofu cheese pancake” recipe that “tastes good but doesn’t make you gain much weight.”
After tasting the dish, the chef gave a warm response, saying he understood why it tastes good when thinking about eating it after a long day.
IU jokingly replied, “So it’s a taste that needs a situation,” creating laughter. The chef then clarified, praising the dish for its “simple ingredients” and “comfortable and balanced flavor.”
The moment highlighted IU’s natural charm and honesty, while also building interest in her new drama ‘Perfect Crown’.
