Former BIGBANG member T.O.P is returning to music after nearly 10 years, sharing honest thoughts about his long break and new direction.
In a recent interview with GQ Hong Kong, he explained that he spent most of the past decade focusing only on music, saying, “For almost 10 years, I stayed mostly disconnected from the public and focused on making music”, adding that he had little contact outside of his home and studio. He described that time as “very constructive and productive”.
T.O.P shared that the experience helped him grow, stating that it gave him space to explore his thoughts and become “more bold” and “less afraid.”
He also revealed how strict he is with himself, saying he only now feels that his new album has reached his personal standards.
He introduced his upcoming album as a major turning point, explaining, “This album is about organizing my past and moving into a completely new chapter,” and emphasized, “I do not want to repeat the past.”
He added that it represents a “new identity” and his goal is to create music that lasts like art, where listeners can discover something new each time.
The album, titled Another Dimension, includes 11 tracks and presents a more complex and experimental style compared to his previous work.
T.O.P had previously paused activities following legal issues in 2017, and later returned to acting through Squid Game Season 2. His first full solo album is set to be released on April 3.
