A past story shared by AKMU’s father is gaining attention again, revealing how Lee Chanhyuk helped his sister Lee Suhyun during a difficult period.
According to their father, Suhyun went through a long slump, saying, “She experienced a slump for quite a long time, and we did not clearly know the reason.”
He explained that it began when Chanhyuk enlisted in the military, as Suhyun had to take on more responsibility on her own.
He shared that Suhyun had previously been able to “follow her brother and just enjoy singing,” but after his enlistment, she had to make decisions herself, which caused pressure and fear.
He added that she later understood “the weight her brother had been carrying,” which made things more difficult.
Their father also explained that Chanhyuk’s musical direction changed after the military, saying he seemed to realize that “life can end at any time, so he wanted to do what he truly wanted.”
As a result, his music became more personal, which made it harder for Suhyun, who eventually “found it difficult to sing those songs and forgot the joy of singing.”
He continued, “After Chanhyuk expressed what he wanted through his solo album, he finally started to focus on Suhyun.” At that time, Suhyun had received many offers but “had lost the motivation to do anything.”
The turning point came with the song “Love Lee”. Their father shared, “Suhyun wanted to sing songs like ‘200%’ and ‘Give Love,’ and although Chanhyuk once said he could not make those songs anymore, he created ‘Love Lee’ for her.” He added that the song “played a decisive role in bringing Suhyun back out into the world.”
Suhyun also spoke about her struggles, recalling, “I stayed in my room like a recluse,” and shared that her daily life was focused on games and food delivery.
She further revealed, “I binge ate every day and felt pain as my weight increased quickly,” expressing how difficult that time was.
This emotional story of support between the siblings continues to draw attention from viewers.
