Actor Ha Jung Woo recently shared a shocking story about a serious injury he suffered while filming a movie.

On the December 5 broadcast of MBN and Channel S’s variety show Jeon Hyun Moo Plan 3, Ha Jung Woo appeared alongside Kim Dong Wook during the “Night in Seoul” special, visiting famous restaurants in Namdaemun.

During the show, Ha Jung Woo revealed he had surgery on the cartilage in both knees, saying, “I’m weak with sitting on the floor. I had surgery on the cartilage in both knees. It’s the meniscus surgery that many soccer or basketball players get.”

He explained how the injury happened, After running a full marathon without enough training, I had problems. I was filming the movie Baekdu Mountain wearing military boots and doing action scenes on uneven terrain for weeks. I twisted my knee many times, and on the last day, while turning suddenly, I felt a pop. My meniscus was weak, and when I abruptly changed direction, I got dizzy and had to sit down. I had surgery two days later. After a year of rehabilitation, I’m much better now.”

Meanwhile, Kim Dong Wook commented on Ha Jung Woo’s dual roles, saying, “As an actor, Jung Woo has no problem with unscripted moments. He’s excellent at expressing emotions in the moment. But as a director, he’s the complete opposite. He’s very thorough and calculated.”

Ha Jung Woo also explained, “As an actor, I’ve worked with many directors, and I realized that no matter how great a director is, unexpected situations always happen. As a director myself, I try to minimize those variables.”

Ha Jung Woo’s candid story shows the challenges and risks actors face during action filming, as well as his dedication both on screen and behind the camera.
