Actress Kim Ji Won made fans’ hearts flutter after she showed up unannounced at Song Joong Ki’s fan meeting, proving that their Descendants of the Sun friendship is still going strong even after a decade.
On October 25, Song Joong Ki held his 2025 Song Joong Ki Fan Meeting – Stay Happy at Ewha Womans University in Seoul. While he was enjoying his first fan meeting in seven years, Kim Ji Won suddenly appeared on stage, surprising both the actor and the fans.
Introducing herself, Kim Ji Won said, “I’m Kim Ji Won, a junior of senior Song Joong Ki. I just came on my own. I’ve been watching since you got emotional while singing, oppa.” Her warm and playful appearance drew loud cheers from the audience.
Song Joong Ki, clearly touched and surprised, smiled widely before giving Kim Ji Won a friendly hug, showing their close friendship.
The two first worked together in KBS2’s hit drama Descendants of the Sun (2016), later reunited in tvN’s Arthdal Chronicles, and more recently, Song Joong Ki made a special cameo in Kim Ji Won’s hit drama Queen of Tears.
They are also currently under the same agency, HighZium Studio, continuing their long-running connection.
When asked about her thoughts on Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won said, “He’s the kind of person who doesn’t show off. I think he’s like that with his fans too — affectionate but in a quiet way. We don’t talk often, but whenever I’m struggling, he somehow calls first as if he already knows. He’s a very dependable senior.”
Song Joong Ki responded with a laugh, saying, “Ji Won is someone who needs a lot of care. Sometimes I get worried and call her. When she asks for advice, I just tell her honestly based on what I’ve experienced.”
Fans who witnessed their adorable interaction couldn’t hide their excitement and began hoping for another on-screen reunion, this time in Kim Ji Won’s upcoming SBS drama Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia.
Song Joong Ki reacted with a smile, saying, “I already did that for Queen of Tears, and now again? But rather than a cameo, if Ji Won is okay with it, I’d love to work with her again."
He added, "We’ve both changed since Arthdal Chronicles, and I think there are many genres we could do together — maybe even romance. If there’s a chance, I’d like to make it happen.”
He added, “It’s not easy for actors to meet in more than one project. I think this is fate. I’d love to create more opportunities to work with her in the future,” exciting fans even more.
