The Boyz’s agency has spoken up about the ongoing controversy over the similarity between The Boyz’s official light stick and QWER’s light stick.
On September 25, agency One Hundred released an official statement saying, “We deeply understand and sincerely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience fans have experienced recently due to the design similarity between The Boyz’s official light stick and QWER’s light stick.”
They continued, “Because a light stick is a precious symbol that connects an artist with their fandom, we fully understand the feelings of The Bs who must have been upset even by the controversy itself."
They added, "Since becoming aware of this issue, we have been in discussions with QWER and requested design changes, but we have not been able to reach a final conclusion.”
The agency further apologized for not responding faster, stating, “We sincerely apologize for not being able to respond to the controversy more quickly."
They continued, "Going forward, we will strongly respond, including all legal procedures, in cooperation with related organizations to ensure that such issues do not happen again."
They added, "We will also be more careful to make sure the symbolism built together by The Boyz and The Bs is not treated lightly.”
The issue first started online when fans pointed out that QWER’s light stick looked too similar to The Boyz’s.
In protest, The Boyz’s fans sent trucks to QWER’s agency, while QWER’s fans fired back by attacking The Boyz’s fandom online.
Despite discussions and repeated requests for design changes, no final decision has been made yet.
