Jeon Somi and Shin Dong Yup created unexpected laughter and heart-fluttering moments on the latest episode of Amazing Saturday.
On the August 16 broadcast of tvN’s hit variety show, Jeon Somi appeared as a guest along with 2PM’s Jang Woo Young and Im Woo Il. While the episode had plenty of fun moments, Somi and Shin Dong Yup stole the spotlight with their unexpected chemistry.
Boom suddenly revealed, “Somi said that every time she sees Shin Dong Yup, her heart drops with a thump,” and the show instantly switched to romantic background music. P.O playfully teased, “He’s even making a handsome face now.”
Flustered but amused, Shin Dong Yup laughed and said, “Somi’s really becoming an adult now,” which made Taeyeon quickly interrupt with, “What are you talking about?”
Somi then explained the real story behind her words. She shared, “The last time I came on Amazing Saturday, we were eating soup dishes. I was eating so well, and Dong Yup sunbaenim suddenly asked, ‘Did you drink a lot yesterday?’ "
She added, "The funny thing was, it was my birthday week, and I really had been drinking. I felt so exposed that I still think about it whenever I see him on TV. It was so embarrassing.”
Her honest confession left everyone laughing, while Shin Dong Yup looked quite pleased at the unexpected praise.
Later, during the dictation challenge, Somi confidently said she could handle anything, but her answers fell short of expectations. Shin Dong Yup jokingly sighed, “Aigoo, this kid…” showing his playful senior-junior dynamic with her.
Somi explained she only got stuck on one part, teasing her junior Woo Chan, but quickly added, “Woo Chan is the kindest,” showing her affection.
Fans loved seeing Somi’s bright energy combined with Shin Dong Yup’s witty reactions, creating an unlikely duo that became one of the episode’s highlights.
