Lee Min Woo of legendary K-pop group Shinhwa has announced his marriage — and fans are emotional after learning what he’s been through.
On the night of July 25, Lee Min Woo posted a heartfelt handwritten letter on his social media, sharing the big news with fans first.
“Today, I have news I want to tell Shinhwa Changjo (our fandom) first, so I picked up a pen,” he began.
He explained that after going through a very difficult time recently — both mentally and emotionally — he spent more time with family and thought deeply about what family truly means. During that time, he reconnected with someone special from his past.
“I’ve always dreamed of having a family of my own one day,” he shared. “And now, I’ve met someone I’ve known for a long time. We realized we share the same feelings and decided to become a family.”
Lee Min Woo said he struggled with how to share this personal news, but he didn’t want fans to hear it from anyone else first.
“I thought about Shinhwa Changjo, who might be hurt hearing this from the media,” he wrote. “So even if I’m a bit clumsy, I wanted to tell you myself first. I truly hope you can warmly support this story I’m sharing with all my heart.”
With this, Lee Min Woo becomes the fourth Shinhwa member to tie the knot, following Eric, Jun Jin, and Andy. He expressed deep gratitude to the fans who have been by his side since his teen debut, saying their love has supported him into his 40s.
“There will be new changes in my life,” he continued, “but with the love of Shinhwa Changjo and my family, I promise to continue being the same Lee Min Woo you’ve always known — on stage and beyond.”
His wedding announcement comes after he recently opened up about being the victim of a massive scam. On KBS 2TV’s Mr. House Husband 2, Lee Min Woo revealed that a friend he had trusted for 20 years gaslighted and scammed him over a span of three years, leading to a loss of 2.6 billion KRW (about $2 million USD). The shocking story touched many fans who admired his honesty and strength.
