Forestella’s Go Woo Rim opened up about his sweet love story with former figure skating queen Kim Yuna—and how she promised to wait for him when he enlisted in the military!
On the June 18 episode of MBC’s Radio Star (Episode 919), Go Woo Rim appeared as a guest in the special “Mr. Voice” alongside Kim Tae Gyun, Chun Rok Dam Lee Jung, and Lee Dae Hyung.
During the show, Go Woo Rim shared how he knew early on that Kim Yuna was the one for him.
“Even when we were just talking and texting at the start of our relationship, I felt so stable with her. I thought, ‘I could really marry someone like this.’ I once told her, ‘Our love doesn’t feel like a quick-burning flame, but more like lighting a pretty candle—calm and warm,’” he recalled.
He added with a smile, “She was surprised and asked, ‘You say things like this?’ I think she was touched, and that’s when I started thinking more seriously about marriage.”
When asked if Kim Yuna said yes right away, Go Woo Rim said he proposed when he was only 24 years old—before he even went to the military.
“I knew it was early, and people might think it was too soon,” he said. “But I had feelings for her even before we started dating. So when I said I wanted to date her with marriage in mind, I was nervous and completely honest.”
What she said next completely melted hearts.
“She told me, ‘If we’re going to keep seeing each other, what’s 1 year and 6 months? Go and do your service. I can wait.’ She even thanked me for talking about marriage first,” he said, making the studio emotional.
Go Woo Rim and Kim Yuna met in 2018 at the All That Skate ice show, where he sang during the event. Despite their five-year age gap, the two quietly dated for around four years and tied the knot in October 2022.
Go Woo Rim enlisted in November 2023 and served in the Army’s military band. He was officially discharged on May 19, 2025.
