Actor Lee Byung Hun is receiving double the spotlight this year!

Just before the premiere of Squid Game 3, it was announced that Lee Byung Hun has been chosen as the star of the Actor Special Exhibition at the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN).

On May 27, Xports News reported that BIFAN selected Lee Byung Hun for this special honor. Since 2017, BIFAN has picked top Korean actors to be featured in this event, celebrating their careers and impact on Korean cinema. Past stars include Jeon Do Yeon, Jung Woo Sung, Kim Hye Soo, Sol Kyung Gu, Choi Min Sik, and last year’s honoree Son Ye Jin.

Lee Byung Hun, who debuted in 1991 through KBS’s open talent recruitment, has had a long and successful career. He’s known for his powerful roles in hit films like Joint Security Area, A Bittersweet Life, The Good, the Bad, the Weird, Masquerade, Inside Men, Concrete Utopia, and more. His drama roles in All In, Mr. Sunshine, and Our Blues also gained major praise.

He also became a global star thanks to his mysterious role in Squid Game. With Squid Game 3 set to release on June 27, this new recognition from BIFAN has fans even more excited.

The 29th BIFAN will run from July 3 to July 13 in Bucheon. Before the festival kicks off, organizers also revealed a main poster inspired by actor-turned-writer Park Shin Yang’s work, reimagined with AI.

Looks like 2025 is shaping up to be one of Lee Byung Hun’s biggest years yet!
