MONSTA X’s Shownu and Joohoney showed off their sweet side on their Turkish adventure—and fans got a taste of their strong friendship, too!
On the May 16 episode of KBS 2TV’s New Item Release Convenience Restaurant, Shownu and Joohoney joined chef Lee Yeon Bok for a delicious trip through Türkiye, trying out iconic local treats and soaking in the culture.
Their first stop was a famous café in Istanbul known for serving kaymak—a rich Turkish clotted cream paired with honey. Chef Lee was amazed, saying, “This is really delicious. It’s different from the kaymak I’ve had before.”
Joohoney’s eyes went wide in surprise as he gave a big thumbs-up, while Shownu happily said, “It feels like I’ve fallen into a jar of honey this morning. It’s so good,” while digging in.

Next, the trio visited Istanbul’s 400-year-old Egyptian Bazaar to try künefe, a beloved Turkish dessert made of shredded pastry, sweet syrup, and cheese.
Chef Lee couldn’t hide his excitement, saying, “The inside is moist, the outside is crispy, and the sweet and salty balance is perfect.” Both Shownu and Joohoney were completely blown away by the flavor.
But one of the most memorable moments came when they experienced traditional Turkish coffee-making—recognized by UNESCO as part of humanity’s cultural heritage.
Shownu got hands-on with a hot sand brewing setup, and the local café owner was impressed, calling his technique “perfect” and even holding Shownu’s hand to help him stir, creating a moment that looked like it came straight out of a romantic movie.

Boom jokingly commented, “This looks like a scene from Ghost,” while Joohoney teased, “They keep locking eyes.”
Lee Jung Hyun chimed in, “He really looks like a barista”, and chef Lee agreed, saying, “He looks like a pro. So cool”.
But it was Joohoney’s praise that really stood out. Looking at Shownu’s barista moves, he smiled and said, “Hyung, you’re sexy.”
From desserts to coffee and some unexpected romance vibes, the MONSTA X duo’s Turkish adventure was full of flavor, fun, and sweet compliments.
