Girl group I.O.I is in talks to reunite and celebrate their 10th debut anniversary with a new song next year.
I.O.I was formed in 2016 through Mnet’s audition show Produce 101 Season 1. The group included the top 11 trainees from 101 contestants, such as Kim Se Jeong, Jeon So Mi, Chungha, Choi Yoo Jung, and Jung Chae Yeon.
Though I.O.I officially ended in 2017, there were reunion talks in 2019 that got canceled due to vote manipulation controversies in the show.
Now, the reunion project is back as a special gift for fans to mark their 10-year debut anniversary in 2026.
Reports say that the members themselves first suggested coming back together, then passed the idea to their agencies.
Recently, representatives from all the members’ companies met to discuss possible dates, how the group might promote, and other details.
One official who joined the meeting said, “Since the members are with different agencies, there are many things to coordinate.”
They added, “We are just starting to talk about the schedule, format, and management. It’s not easy because the members are busy with their own activities, but since they really want to reunite, we are hopeful.”
Fans are excited to see I.O.I back together and are looking forward to their new music next year.
