BIGBANG's G-Dragon opened up about his surprising past as an SM Entertainment trainee, leaving aespa and fans in shock.

On the March 30 episode of MBC’s Good Day, G-Dragon met aespa as senior and junior artists. During their conversation, he revealed that he was once a trainee at SM Entertainment, the same company that manages aespa.

He shared, “I joined SM when I was just 8 years old. I was on a family trip when a dance competition was held. Lee Soo Man was the host, and he personally cast me.”

Curious about his departure, Karina and Winter asked, “Was it not a good fit for you?” and “Did you feel like you didn’t belong?”

G-Dragon explained, “I struggled to find my place, but then I started learning rap. Including my time at SM, I trained for 11 years.” His answer left everyone amazed.

Defconn then raised an interesting question: “What if G-Dragon had debuted under SM?”

Giselle boldly responded, “I don’t think he would be the G-Dragon we know today”. Ningning unintentionally made a funny comment, saying, “SM is kind of… normal”, before quickly correcting herself, “I meant more traditional in style”.

Winter also shared a hilarious story about her trainee days, saying, “For my first SM evaluation, I sang BIGBANG’s ‘IF YOU’, but they told me to change the song”. Her unexpected confession made everyone burst into laughter.
