• Kim Sae Ron’s Mother Forced to Cancel Press Conference due to Health Issues - Here's the Symtoms She is Experiencing

Kim Sae Ron’s mother is speaking out for the first time following her daughter’s tragic passing, but shocking rumors have left her devastated. She had initially planned a press conference to clear up allegations but had to cancel due to worsening health.

On March 21, a letter from Kim Sae Ron’s mother, Ms. A, was revealed. In her heartfelt message, she poured out her sorrow and deep pain over losing her daughter.

Ms. A shared, “Today, my head aches unbearably, and my chest feels tight. I can’t bring myself to throw away any of your clothes or belongings—I’m holding onto everything. I still sleep while holding onto your pajamas because your scent lingers on them, and I can’t bear to wash them.”

She also painfully reflected on her daughter’s suffering, saying, “You struggled so much, saying you were going to die—are you finally at peace now? You used to joke that if you died, a lot of friends would come to your funeral, and they really did. It made me think, ‘My daughter truly lived a good life.’ It was a great comfort to me and gave me the strength to keep going.”

Ms. A expressed deep regret, saying, “Looking back, everything is filled with nothing but regret. She was constantly tormented. At some point, I think she decided to live as the ‘Kim Sae Ron’ that the news articles created, as if she had truly become that person. I couldn’t accept how she kept trying to let go of the world.”

She also addressed the criticism her family has faced, saying, “I only wished for something like this to never happen again, but all I get in return are words that deny my existence and demands for explanations.”

A letter written by Kim Sae Ron to her mother in 2022 was also revealed. In the touching note, the actress had written, “Mom, I’m always grateful and I love you. Thank you for being born, and thank you for being my mom. In my next life, I’ll be born as your daughter again so I can receive only love.”

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Kim Sae Ron’s beloved pet dog ‘Neoguri,’ whom she adopted from a shelter, was by her side at the time of her passing and is now being cared for by her family.

However, even as her family grieves, new shocking allegations have surfaced. Rumors are spreading that Kim Sae Ron had secretly married her boyfriend in the U.S. shortly before her death and had even undergone an abortion.

Outraged by these claims, Ms. A initially planned a press conference to set the record straight. However, her health has taken a serious hit—reports say she is suffering from facial paralysis and extreme stress, making it impossible for her to proceed. Instead, she released her letter to express her pain.

Ms. A and the bereaved family firmly denied the marriage rumors, saying, “This is the first time we are hearing about this.” They are now discussing legal action, believing these rumors are causing irreversible damage to Kim Sae Ron’s reputation.

Amid the growing controversy, Kim Sae Ron’s agency Gold Medalist has filed a lawsuit against her family. On March 20, the agency stated, “A photograph of Kim Soo Hyun’s body, which could evoke sexual shame, was made public. Such an image should never be released to the public, nor is there any justification for doing so.” They added, “Due to concerns that similar actions may occur again, we had no choice but to file a complaint against Kim Sae Ron’s bereaved family.”

As the legal battle intensifies, many are worried that the real issue—Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron’s alleged underage relationship—might be getting buried under the growing controversy.

SBS's new fantasy historical drama The Haunted Palace is already making waves both in South Korea and around the world.

Starring Yook Sung Jae and Bona, the show exploded in popularity during its very first week — topping Netflix charts in multiple countries and hitting double-digit TV ratings straight out of the gate.

On Korean television, The Haunted Palace shocked viewers with a strong start. Episode 1 pulled in a peak nationwide rating of 10.7%, instantly breaking the double-digit barrier.

The Seoul area rating and the national average were both 9.2%, making it the highest-rated premiere of any SBS drama in 2025 so far.

It also beat out other SBS dramas like Love Scout and Buried Hearts, and even took the #1 spot among all mini-series aired that week, showing that this drama isn’t just trending — it’s leading the pack. (According to Nielsen Korea)

And the success didn’t stop on TV.

As soon as The Haunted Palace dropped on Netflix, it jumped straight to #1 on “Today’s Top 10 TV Shows in South Korea”, proving its massive popularity on streaming platforms.

Globally, it also ranked #1 in the TV series category in Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, showing that international fans are just as hooked.

Fans are loving the unique story, which mixes fantasy, comedy, and creepy mystery. The drama follows Yeori, a shaman who denies her fate, and Kang Cheol I, a mythical Imoogi spirit trapped inside her first love’s body. Together, they face off against a terrifying ghost called Palcheok Gui — who has a dark grudge against the royal family.

Episode 2 added even more excitement, with Kang Cheol I hilariously struggling to live like a normal human after 1,000 years.

At the same time, Yeori starts hearing the voice of Yoon Gap’s spirit and tries to save him. By the end of the episode, it’s revealed that Prince Wonja (played by Park Jae Joon) is going mad due to Palcheok Gui — and that the ghost has already consumed Yoon Gap’s soul. The showdown between Kang Cheol I, Yeori, and the evil spirit is just getting started.

With high ratings and top OTT rankings, The Haunted Palace is quickly becoming one of the biggest drama hits of the year.
