• Solar Confesses She Wanted MAMAMOO to Stay Together—But Here's What Stopped Them

MAMAMOO’s Solar opened up about her feelings regarding the group’s contract renewal struggles, leaving fans with mixed emotions.

On December 26th, the web series Saching Queen released an episode titled "Solar’s Second MAMAMOO! Rumors of Conflict Right After Debut?" on the YouTube channel Studio ChikaChika. Solar joined the show as a guest, and comedian Lee Soo Ji brought up a topic fans have been curious about.

Lee Soo Ji asked bluntly, "MAMAMOO didn’t fully renew contracts, right? Did you all respect each other’s decisions, or did you feel regret, like ‘I wish we could stay together’?"

MAMAMOO, known for their incredible talent and individuality, debuted on June 19, 2014, and quickly became one of the most iconic girl groups in K-pop.

Despite their success, the group faced changes when Wheein decided not to renew her contract in 2021, followed by Hwasa in June 2023. These departures left fans heartbroken.

Solar addressed the question with honesty, saying, "There wasn’t much I could do about the members’ future paths. Of course, I wanted us to stay together, but I also thought we should respect each other’s decisions. I still believe that’s the right thing."

Lee Soo Ji shared her hopes for a reunion, saying, "Still, I wish you’d all come together again!" Solar responded with sincerity, "Now that we’re all pursuing individual activities, it’s really difficult to coordinate schedules. But if you wait, I’d love to do it anytime." Her heartfelt response touched fans, who are now eagerly holding onto the possibility of a reunion.

While Solar continues to support MAMAMOO’s legacy, she’s also busy with her individual activities. She will reprise her role in the musical Mata Hari, joining its fourth season, which will run at the LG Art Center Seoul until March 2.

Fans are now hoping for a moment when MAMAMOO can stand together on stage once again, showing the world why they’re still one of K-pop’s most beloved groups.
