BTS’s Jimin has achieved another incredible milestone with his song “Who.” On September 30, the title track from his second solo album MUSE reached over 1 million units sold in the U.S., earning Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This makes it the fastest K-pop solo song without any collaborations to hit this mark in 2024.
Despite being inactive due to his military enlistment, Jimin achieved this in just 74 days after the song's release on July 19. This comes after Jimin made history last year with “Like Crazy,” the title track from his first solo album FACE, becoming the first Korean-language song by a K-pop solo artist to sell over 1 million units in the U.S.
But what stands out the most is Jimin's thoughts on the success of MUSE and its ending. Even though he’s been serving in the military, his music has continued to resonate with fans all around the world. Jimin has shared before how deeply personal MUSE is to him, and how each song, including “Who,” reflects a part of his journey. While he couldn't actively promote the album, seeing the love and support it received touched him deeply.
“It’s been a meaningful experience,” Jimin shared before his enlistment. "I wanted to express something real with MUSE, and knowing that people connect with it, even while I’m away, means everything to me.”
This Platinum certification is another reminder of Jimin’s global influence, with “Who” breaking new records and staying on top charts, even during his hiatus. Fans continue to show their love for the track, which also ranked on Billboard’s “Hot 100” and Spotify’s “U.S. Daily Top Songs” chart.
As MUSE’s era comes to a close, Jimin’s reflection on the album's success highlights the emotional depth and artistry he poured into it. Even though he's not actively in the spotlight, the power of his music continues to shine, setting new records and creating lasting memories for his fans.
