• Son Seok Koo: "I Want to Join 'I Am Solo,' But Participants Rush Too Much"

Actor Son Seok Koo recently shared his interest in appearing on the popular show 'I Am Solo.'

On August 15, a video featuring Son Seok Koo was posted on the YouTube channel 'Protect Choi Ho-koo,' run by fellow actor Choi Yoon Young. In the video, Son Seok Koo expressed his excitement about trying new experiences, including going on a blind date and appearing on 'I Am Solo.'

Both Son Seok Koo and Choi Yoon Young are big fans of the ENA and SBS Plus reality show.Choi Yoon Young responded enthusiastically, saying she also wants to be on the show.

When Son Seok Koo asked what name Choi Yoon Young would give him if he joined the show, Choi Yoon Young joked, “You’d definitely be called ‘Kwang-soo,’ just like the Kwang-soo from the 16th season’s divorced special who asked, ‘Should we lay out the tape?’”

Son Seok Koo then shared his thoughts on the show’s participants. “The biggest mistake I see is rushing things. They treat 5 days like 5 hours, expecting results in a day or two. That’s not how it works,” he said. “Everything is about timing. If you rush and say, ‘I’m Yung-ja,’ you won’t be able to turn back.”

He also talked about working with veteran actress Kim Hye Ja in the upcoming JTBC drama 'More Beautiful Than Heaven.' “The director from ‘My Liberation Notes’ called me and asked if I wanted to work with Kim Hye Ja. Even though my schedule didn’t fit, I begged to be a part of it,” he said. “I’m excited because this is a type of acting I’ve never done before.”

Son Seok Koo expressed his enthusiasm for finally doing a proper romance. He said, “I tried hard to do a romance recently, but it didn’t work out. This time, I’ll get to do it properly.” He praised Kim Hye Ja, saying, “When the director asked Kim Hye Ja who would be a good co-star, she mentioned me. Which actor in Korea gets to do a romance with Kim Hye Ja? This is going to be incredible.”

The webtoon, which first started in May 2018 and wrapped up in November 2023, is famous for its intense storytelling and emotional depth.

It tells the story of Yeon Si Eun, a quiet and seemingly weak student who turns into a top fighter at a violent school—giving fans a unique and gripping coming-of-age story.

After Weak Hero Class 2 aired, many viewers started reading or re-reading the webtoon from beginning to end. As a result, sales of the webtoon have shot up more than 20 times compared to its average monthly sales after completion.

The series has also been turned into printed books, a mobile game, and even emojis, and has been exported to 9 countries, including North America.
