Song Joong Ki shared a funny story about how his friendship with director Jang Hang Jun has jokingly changed following the massive success of The King's Warden
During the October 15 broadcast of SBS’s Master Jang Hang Jun, several celebrities appeared in interview clips talking about the director and his growing status after the film reportedly drew 16.93 million moviegoers.
Song Joong Ki joked that he now feels more careful whenever Jang Hang Jun calls him.
He said, “There are moments when I hesitate before calling him now. Without realizing it, I started answering his calls with both hands.”
Reenacting the difference, Song Joong Ki continued, “Before, I would just say, ‘Yes, hyung.’ But these days, I hold the phone with both hands and answer politely.”
The comment was clearly made in a playful tone, with the actor exaggerating how much more respectfully he now treats Jang Hang Jun after the director’s major box office success.
The episode continued the joke by showing other stars reacting to Jang Hang Jun as if he had suddenly become an extremely powerful filmmaker.
Jang Hang Jun also said he was preparing his next project and jokingly listed “loyalty” as one of the qualities he values most when choosing actors.
Kim Eui Sung played along with the concept, joking, “I should probably pay to be in it. I’d need to send around 20 coffee trucks during filming.”
Song Joong Ki then added, “I think I should have a serious conversation with hyung somewhere without other people around.”
The lighthearted exchange showed how Jang Hang Jun’s recent success has become an ongoing joke among his actor friends, with Song Joong Ki pretending that their once-casual relationship now requires a much more formal level of respect.
