Chae Soo Bin revealed that she almost turned down Netflix’s Take Charge of My Heart because she was worried about becoming too closely associated with romantic comedy roles.

During an interview on October 15, the actress spoke about why she initially hesitated to join the 10-episode Netflix series.

Chae Soo Bin has appeared in several romance-focused projects throughout her career, including *Love in the Moonlight*, *Sweet & Sour*, and *When the Phone Rings*.

She admitted, *“I had a lot of concerns when deciding whether to do this project. Since I had mainly done romantic comedies, I worried, ‘What if I become too trapped in this genre?’”*

That concern was still on her mind when she first met with the production team for Take Charge of My Heart.

Chae Soo Bin said, *“When I went to the meeting, I honestly went with the feeling of, ‘I’m grateful, but...’”*

However, the director, writer, and production company representative personally attended the meeting and tried to convince her that the drama could offer something different.

She recalled, *“They told me they were confident they could make it well. They said that even though it was a familiar romantic comedy, they were confident they could make that familiar flavor really enjoyable.”*

Their confidence ultimately persuaded her to accept the role.

Chae Soo Bin added that playing Na Bo Bae also helped ease some of her concerns about being limited to one genre.

She said, *“I’ve always thought about wanting to try different genres, but after meeting Bo Bae, I actually became more relaxed about that concern. I’m grateful for that.”*

Take Charge of My Heart stars Chae Soo Bin as drama writer Na Bo Bae, who has a special electrical ability, opposite Kim Young Kwang as Baek Ho Rang, a third-generation chaebol who depends on an artificial heart battery.

The series has also started strongly on Netflix, reaching No. 3 on the Global Top 10 Non-English TV chart after recording 3 million views in its first three days. It also entered the Top 10 in 44 countries.

Chae Soo Bin’s comments show that despite her established success in romantic comedies, she seriously considered stepping away from the genre before the Take Charge of My Heart production team convinced her to take another chance on it.
