Professional choreographer and IVE performance director Shimizu has shared why she believes Jang Wonyoung is so effective on stage, pointing to the idol’s detailed preparation behind every performance.
On the October 10 episode of MBC’s *The Manager*, Shimizu discussed her work directing IVE’s performances and explained the different strengths she sees in the members.
While preparing ideas for IVE’s next concept with her assistants, Shimizu said the group has already tried such a wide range of styles that finding something completely new has become difficult.
The choreographer then broke down how individual members approach performance.
Speaking about An Yujin, Shimizu said her choreography style reflects her confident and straightforward personality.
However, she gave particular praise to Jang Wonyoung for her ability to make even small moments memorable.
Shimizu said, *“Jang Wonyoung has an outstanding ability to turn every part into her own killing scene.”*
She explained that this does not happen by accident, adding, *“That shows she really studies and researches a tremendous amount.”*
Her comments highlighted the preparation behind Wonyoung’s expressions, movements, and interpretation of choreography rather than simply focusing on her visuals.
Shimizu also described Liz as being especially suited to choreography that involves sharp, bouncing movements, showing how she adjusts performances around each member’s individual strengths.
As IVE’s performance director, Shimizu is involved in more than choreography. She said she also works across areas including arrangement, styling, concepts, and stage props to create a complete performance.
During the broadcast, she demonstrated some of her choreography work by performing parts of IVE’s *LOVE DIVE* and *I AM*, as well as aespa’s *Whiplash*.
For Shimizu, Wonyoung’s ability to repeatedly create standout moments comes down to careful study and preparation, with the choreographer praising her as a performer who knows how to make every assigned part feel important.
