Actress Kim So Hyun has shared a funny but relatable experience about her love for eating alone, revealing that she was once refused a table at a barbecue restaurant because she arrived without anyone else.

On October 7, Kim So Hyun appeared as a guest on E Channel's variety show Heo Kyung Hwan's Happy Catchphrase Show, where she talked about her everyday personality and unusual dining experiences.

During the episode, Kim So Hyun described herself as a homebody who enjoys spending time indoors. However, she explained that she also feels completely comfortable going out alone, especially when it comes to eating.

She shared, "I do go out alone. I go out to eat by myself. I really enjoy eating alone."

When asked about her favorite place to eat alone, Kim So Hyun revealed that she especially enjoys visiting conveyor belt sushi restaurants.

Host Heo Kyung Hwan seemed surprised by her confidence, saying, "Conveyor belt sushi is a little difficult to do alone."

Kim So Hyun agreed that it could feel challenging at first but explained that she wanted to try it.

She then revealed that she had also attempted something even more unusual: visiting a Korean barbecue restaurant by herself.

However, things did not go as planned.

"I even tried going to a barbecue restaurant once, but they turned me away," she said.

The actress explained that she had visited the restaurant during a busy weekend evening, when many customers typically arrive in groups to enjoy grilled meat and drinks.

Rather than criticizing the restaurant, Kim So Hyun showed understanding toward the business.

"I went on a weekend evening. It's a time when people come to eat meat and drink, but I showed up alone," she explained.

Her story amused Heo Kyung Hwan, who admitted that he finds solo dining much more difficult.

He recalled an embarrassing experience when he tried eating alone while facing a wall, only to discover that there was a mirror in front of him.

"I thought I was eating while facing the wall, but there was a mirror. Everyone could see me, and they all recognized me," he said, making the conversation even funnier.

Kim So Hyun also revealed that being recognized while eating alone has occasionally led to awkward situations.

She recalled one particular day when she had gone out looking tired and hoped nobody would recognize her.

Although nobody approached her at the restaurant, she later discovered that someone had written a blog post about seeing her eating alone.

"I looked really tired that day, so I was hoping nobody would recognize me. But someone posted on their blog that they saw me eating alone at a restaurant," she shared.

The actress admitted that the experience was embarrassing, even though the person had not approached her or taken a photograph.

She jokingly added, "Thankfully, there wasn't even a photo. If there had been a picture of me from behind, I probably would have stopped eating alone after that day."

Kim So Hyun's stories offered a lighthearted glimpse into her everyday life, showing that even celebrities who enjoy spending time alone can experience awkward moments at restaurants.

Despite being turned away from a barbecue restaurant and occasionally being recognized in public, the actress made it clear that she genuinely enjoys the freedom of dining by herself.
